CW: Rant about why I completely LOATHE new cars/New doesn't mean better
As you may know I'm just your average Spaniard. I live in a country in which we have free public healthcare, cops don't have a empty mag by the end of the week, workers have rights, we keep chill about politics... (Alright yeah the last one still gives problems but we know how to remain united)
I'm however going to rant about how NEW isn't always better.
The car I'm sitting on is a Opel corsa 1.6. It has the most of the basic of 4 cylinder engines with only 100hp and using gas, it doesn't even have a turbo. The seats are made out of cheap synthetic fabric and foam filling. The car doesn't have portable internet, headrest screens or anything, At most it counts with a basic radio that has become this big screen on the center console, AC airbags, ABS brakes, basic alarm, electric and that's it?
The car I'm talking about is a BASIC utilitarian. It doesn't have any fancy extras as aleation rims or even a spare wheel. it only has a anti puncture kit and a basic mechanical lift to lift the car. not even a toolkit or anything to repair the car with.
Can you guess how much it does cost? If I told you that the car is 18.000€ brand new from the factory would you believe me? You can guess that there's no learner driver that could afford this basic piece of german TRASH. and when we look towards basic french or italian hatchbacks the price only raises to 21k. and the ONLY car that is under 10k is a 65hp Dacia Sandero (Ironically it is looking better)
May I know what the HELL makes a BASIC car that should cost 8k JUMP to 18k?! I wonder if in america you guys got it any better or if it is worse when it comes to purchasing your first car.
